Sage UK Settles Mis-Selling Allegations

Last week WireNews reported on allegations that were levelled against Sage (UK) Limited by Mayside Partners Limited, the parent company of WireNews.

As reported last Wednesday (READ: Accusations of Mis-Selling Directed at Sage UK), Mayside Partners, a respected venture capital firm based in the UK, had formally informed Sage (UK) of its intention to file a legal claim against Sage UK, alleging mis-selling of the Sage50c accounting software. The claim highlighted the false representations made by Mr. Chris Jones, a sales representative of Sage UK in December 2021.

After being notified of its planned litigation and a criminal referral that alleges 'fraudulent misrepresentation', Sage UK immediately refunded all monies Mayside Partners had paid to Sage UK since December 2021.

Speaking about the settlement, Bill White, CEO of Mayside Partners said: "We're obviously pleased to receive the monies collected by Sage UK through fraudulent representation, by its employee."

"The return of the money, however, does not make us whole, because we still face the considerable task of transferring our accounting data for five companies from Sage to an accounting software that does what Jones told us Sage 50c would do," White added.

"Regardless, we have accepted the refund on the basis of full settlement of the civil claim that was being made," White concluded.

Whether or not the Magistrates' Court accepts Mayside Partners' application for a summons is a matter for the local judge.
