The United States welcomes the European Union’s decision to open accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia. We look forward to deepening our strategic partnership with Albania and North Macedonia as they begin the next steps on their Western path.
This decision further solidifies Albania and North Macedonia’s European futures. It also underscores the importance of the historic Prespa Agreement which allows North Macedonia to advance its European Union and Transatlantic goals.  The United States will remain a steadfast partner as both governments undertake the necessary reforms to strengthen the rule of law, further anti-corruption efforts, grow their economies, and enhance the fight against organized crime.
Both nations must remain committed to their respective reform agendas, and the United States will continue its unwavering support for their efforts in this regard.
