Each time the Nations, the media, or even assimilated Jews use the term “West Bank,” they participate in a lie — one designed to erase Jewish history and undermine the sovereignty of the State of Israel. The land they refer to is not some vague “bank” of Jordan. It is יהודה ושמרון (Yehuda v’Shomron – Judea and Samaria), the very heartland of Am Yisrael.


The so-called “West Bank” was a term invented in 1948 by the Arab invaders who temporarily occupied this part of Israel after Jordan’s illegal invasion. For nearly two decades, Jews were expelled from their homes and holy sites were desecrated under that occupation. In 1967, the IDF liberated Judea and Samaria from the invaders. Since then, the false terminology has persisted, imposed by foreign governments, the United Nations, and tragically, by Jews who have lost sight of their own heritage.



Words matter. To speak of a “West Bank” is to affirm the narrative of those who deny Israel’s eternal right to her land. It suggests that Israel somehow owes an explanation for being in territory that has been hers since Avraham Avinu walked its hills and purchased the Cave of Machpelah in Chevron. To use that false name is not neutrality; it is assimilation.


Israel has no need to “annex” Judea and Samaria, as many claim. One cannot annex what already belongs to them. All that remains is for Israel to apply Israeli civilian law to a part of the region, replacing the current military administration with the same legal framework that governs every other part of Israel. This is not an act of conquest — it is an act of sovereignty and truth.


Assimilated Jews who echo the terminology of the Nations should take a hard look at what they are doing. Each time they use the words “West Bank,” they deny their own history and weaken the integrity of Israel. We cannot afford this. The enemies of Israel already wage their war with knives, guns, and bombs. We must not hand them victory with our words.



It is time for Israelis and Jews everywhere to wake up. Stop repeating the lie. Speak the truth.


Say it proudly: this land is יהודה ושמרון, Judea and Samaria. To deny this is to deny ourselves.
