Shomrim Alert: Tyron Nathan King

Tyron Nathan King
Tyron Nathan King

As part of Shomrim Scotland's Watch and Report scheme, an alert is being issued to synagogues throughout the United Kingdom, particularly in Scotland, concerning Tyron Nathan King, who has previously demonstrated threatening behaviour toward the Jewish community.

King, a former student at Lancaster University, was expelled by university officials following a series of threats against, and involving, members of the Jewish Society in Lancaster, during which police were called.

It was believed that he had returned to Malaysia after his expulsion, but King has now begun issuing threats and attempting blackmail and extortion against members of the Jewish community in Dundee, Scotland, including matters involving Hebrew Synagogue.

Dundee Police have been notified.

If you are contacted by King, contact Dundee Police on 0141 308 1070 or call 101 in Scotland.

Shomrim Scotland is operated by Hebrew Synagogue. Its focus is the protection and safeguarding of the Jewish Community throughout Scotland. The organisation works to strengthen communal security through education, the implementation of best-practice security procedures at synagogues and other Jewish communal properties, and through active community engagement.

Shomrim Services are offered entirely free of charge. They believe that the safety and wellbeing of the Jewish Community is a shared responsibility, and they welcome participation from members of the Community across Scotland. Shomrim Scotland seeks committed volunteers who can assist in three key areas:

  • Education – helping to raise awareness and understanding of security measures within the Community.

  • Watch and Report – providing a visible presence, identifying potential risks, and reporting suspicious activity.

  • Incident Response – being alert and prepared to act swiftly and appropriately in the event of any threat or, G-D forbid, acts of violence against Jewish individuals or institutions anywhere in Scotland.

Shomrim Scotland works in partnership with communal organisations and security professionals to ensure that synagogues, schools, and community centres remain safe and welcoming spaces for all. By volunteering your time and skills, you can make a meaningful contribution to the protection of the Jewish future in Scotland.
