“You shall not make a treaty with them” — דברים (Devarim) 7:2.
The Torah could not be clearer. The Jewish people are not permitted to make treaties with those who hate us, nor are we permitted to allow them to dwell peacefully in our midst, unless they renounce עבודה זרה (Avodah Zarah — idolatry) and accept the sovereignty of ה׳. This is not an obscure command, nor one confined to the seven nations of כנען (Kena’an). It is an eternal principle that defines our separateness as a Holy nation.
And yet, our politicians — eager for the applause of the nations — have trampled upon this command. They gather in foreign capitals, smile for the cameras, and acquiesce to world leaders who neither know nor respect the covenant of Israel. In their pursuit of legitimacy among the nations, they betray our legitimacy as the nation chosen by G-D.

Assimilation has dulled their memory. They forget that ישראל (Yisrael) is not just another nation with borders and trade agreements; we are a people sanctified, tasked with revealing G-D’s truth in the world. When our leaders make treaties with our sworn enemies, when they invite them into our land under the illusion of peace, they not only endanger Jewish lives — they desecrate the Torah itself.
We must not be deceived by the smiling faces of world leaders. President Donald Trump, who is not Jewish, advanced plans for Israel that were nothing less than a blueprint for dividing the land promised by G-D. His son-in-law, who should know better, stood at his side, an example of what happens when assimilation and ambition outweigh fidelity to Torah. To divide the land is to rebel against the very will of G-D.
These so-called friends of Israel flout the Torah intentionally, and our own politicians allow themselves to become partners in the betrayal. This is not leadership; it is surrender. The Holy Zohar teaches that Israel’s strength lies only when it is separate, distinct, and unyielding in its devotion to the covenant. When we blur the line between ourselves and the nations, we strip ourselves of Divine protection.

The Torah does not change, nor does it bow to political expediency. Treaties with those who deny our right to exist, who cling to their idols and celebrate our deaths, are forbidden.
Allowing them residence and influence within Israel is forbidden. Forgetting this truth is the greatest danger we face, greater even than the rockets and knives of our enemies.
We are called to remember that ישראל is a Holy nation. To forget this is to betray the very reason for our existence.
