New Restrictions on Imports of Certain Goods from Bangladesh through Inland

India announces new restrictions on imports of certain goods from Bangladesh through land transit posts.
As per a directive issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, via notification no.07/2025-26 dated 17th May 2025, detailing the following port restrictions has come into immediate effect:
All kinds of Garments from Bangladesh are not allowed through any land port, but only through Nava Shiva and Kolkata sea ports.
Fruit/Fruit Flavored and Carbonated Drinks;
Processed Food items; Cotton and Cotton Yarn Waste; Plastic and PVC finished goods; except Pigments, Dyes, Plasticizers and Granules that input for own industries; and Wooden Furniture shall not be allowed through any Land Customs Stations LCSs)/Integrated Check Posts (ICPs) in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram; LCS Changrabandha and Fullbari in West Bengal.
The port restrictions do not apply to importing fish, LPG, Edible Oils, and Crushed Stones from Bangladesh. Restrictions will not apply to goods from Bangladesh that are transiting India, destined for Nepal and Bhutan.
