Eco Hosts Housing Minister to Discuss Sector’s Role in Scotland’s Future

A Scottish business which is leading the way in sustainable industrialised construction to help meet the nation’s housing needs is set to host Housing Minister Paul McLennan for a regional business event.
Mr McLennan, Minister for Housing, will join Prosper members in the South of Scotland for an “In Conversation With…” event at Eco Group, Annan, on May 21, to explore opportunities for the future of housing in the region.
Discussion will focus on support to unlock housing developments and the fundamental role housing plays in growing the regional economy.
Prosper, works with leaders from all sectors to transform Scotland’s economy. A membership organisation, Prosper connects business, government and civil society to, in its words, “turn ideas into reality”.
Eco’s VASO Build Solutions, construction panels made from mostly recycled glass, is one of a range of world-first decarbonisation technologies and carbon mitigation strategies developed by the pioneering business, to deliver industrialised construction solutions to help address Scotland’s housing shortage.

Paul McLennan served as a local councillor for the Dunbar and East Linton multi-member ward of East Lothian Council from 2007, and was leader of the Council from 2009 to 2012.
He has been a board member of NHS Lothian, the regional offices of Scottish Enterprise and the Commission on School Reform.
He was elected as MSP for East Lothian in 2021. Mr McLennan was appointed as Minister for Housing in March 2023.
