Diplomatic Security Service Leads U.S. Security at Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games

Demonstrating the Trump administration’s bold leadership and steadfast commitment to law enforcement and security, the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) will oversee security operations supporting the United States’ presence at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games (February 6–22) and Paralympic Games (March 6–15) in Milan-Cortina, Italy.
The DSS security role is formalized through a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, enabling close collaboration with U.S. federal law enforcement partners and host nation authorities to safeguard Team USA and U.S. interests abroad.

DSS special agents will coordinate security, provide liaison and advisory support, and ensure a safe environment for U.S. delegations, athletes, corporate stakeholders, and citizens attending the Games. As chair of the International Security Event Group (ISEG)—an interagency body of approximately 20 U.S. federal agencies—DSS leads efforts to protect U.S. interests during major international events.
Throughout the Games, DSS agents and analysts will staff a 24/7 Joint Operations Center at the U.S. Consulate in Milan, working closely with ISEG partners and other interagency representatives to support security operations.
