Founded to strengthen trade and investment ties between Uganda and the United Kingdom, British Chamber of Commerce Uganda (BCCU) has quickly become a vibrant platform for business collaboration, innovation, and opportunity. Led by Ugandans, connected globally, and committed to making a difference in Uganda, BCCU is shaping a future where business drives inclusive development.


Over the past year, BCCU has hosted high-level networking events such as the tax event in partnership with EY, an imports and exports to the UK event, and a UK Visa and Immigration event. BCCU has also provided a trusted space for dialogue between business and government. With Uganda’s youthful population and entrepreneurial spirit, BCCU believes the country is poised for transformative growth.



H.E. Lisa Chesney MBE, honorary President of the BCCU and British High Commissioner to Uganda said:

We are part of a global movement that means business. And my government is pushing all of us to be engines of growth – not just in the UK but here in Uganda too. Growth requires partnership. Partnership between government and business, between nations and networks. The UK is committed to economic renewal, technological innovation, and global collaboration. The British High Commission’s work to support mutual growth and prosperity, and our support for the Chamber will not stop.

Sanjay Rughani, Board Chair of BCCU said:

Our members are helping build the jobs of the future for Uganda’s young population. This anniversary is not just a celebration of what we’ve achieved—it’s a call to action for more businesses to join us, benefit from our network, and be part of this exciting journey.
Uganda’s potential is immense—and together, we can unlock it. We invite businesses of all sizes and sectors to become part of the BCCU community and help shape the next chapter of Uganda’s economic story.

As the Chamber looks to the next few years, it remains focused on expanding its membership, deepening UK-Uganda business ties, and championing sustainable, inclusive economic development.

  • since its inception it has grown to 41 members, representing 17 distinct sectors. From agriculture, to engineering, green tech, fin tech and tourism, the Chamber represents some of the fastest growing sectors of Uganda’s economy

  • the British Chamber of Commerce members collectively represent over 20,000 jobs in the Ugandan economy, over 19,000 of which are Ugandans

  • the BCCU is one of 75 international Chambers of Commerce in the British Chambers of Commerce network.
