Costa Rica’s National Day

Costa Rica’s National Day

On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my warm congratulations to the people of Costa Rica on the 203rd anniversary of your independence.

The United States and Costa Rica share a deep bond, anchored in a steadfast commitment to democracy, human rights, and inclusive economic growth. I am proud of our joint efforts to address some of the region’s most complex issues, including irregular migration, climate change, and transnational organized crime, as we seek to build a better future for our citizens.

Costa Rica is leading efforts in the region to support sustainable and responsible economic development, strengthen the region’s economic links with the United States, and advance secure telecommunications and cybersecurity modernization. I am also encouraged by our work with Costa Rica to strengthen our people-to-people ties, including through impactful education, exchange, and language programs.

I am excited to see what more we can accomplish together during Costa Rica’s 204th year as an independent nation. I wish the government of Costa Rica and the Costa Rican people a proud and festive National Day. May you take heart in the many achievements of the Costa Rican people.
